Let’s talk about LOVE…

Luke 6:27-36

27- But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you…

There is a little saying, ‘Love your enemies, it will drive them crazy’. Worth a smile? Yes. Good advice? Not for the Christian. When Jesus commands us to love our enemies he has something far deeper in mind. We are not only to ‘say’ we love them, we are to ‘act out’ that love.

29- If anyone hits you on one cheek, let him hit the other one too; if someone takes your coat, let him have your shirt as well.

What is this particular verse trying to tell us? I mean I feel this words has been really misinterpreted… What Jesus meant was when we are faced with temptations the best thing to do as a believer is to jejele walk away, no preaching, no arguing, just walk away and in your quiet time pray about it…

We are to do good to people, not only when we see them in need, but sometimes for no reason other than the joy of being obedient to Jesus.
We are to bless them when they curse us. We are not to answer them with harsh words, but with sensitivity and kindness. We are to pray for them when they mistreat us. We are not to look for ways to retaliate when they hurt us but for ways which will demonstrate love.

This command assumes that we will have enemies and that, as Jesus’ disciples, we will not be universal accepted and liked by everyone we meet. Jesus often said that we would receive the same treatment as he did.

It is precisely because we are children of a heavenly Father that we are to be different to those ‘in the world,’ not only in big things, like accepting severe persecution, but also in the smaller things, like a word of greeting for a snub, or an act of kindness for one of spite.

Our Father is merciful and that same mercy is to be the defining principle of all that we do…

35- No! Love your enemies and do good to them; lend and expect nothing back..

I wish you all a great and a fulfilled weekend…

Make sure you let that love shine like a bright star…

  1. Intact this posts emphasise what makes being a christian different from others. I mean its not logical to pray for those who intentionally and deliberately hurt you. Yet we are admonished not to retaliate even in our closet. Man!

But thank God, we have a helper who helps when we don’t have the strengtt, when obeying God seems illogical

    Great awesome post..

  3. God loves everyone and hates none. He only hates our wrongdoings.

This is how we, too, need to behave. If it’s not possibel, ask Jesus and you’ll be given protection, wisdom and strength to overcome your fear & hatred of those who wronged you.

The secret to overcoming the world is to agree to be crucified and then praying to God to forgive your tormentors as Jesus did.

Remember, there’ no difference between you and Pharaoh. You’re as human as he was. If you’re better, you need to thank God.
